WANANGA 2: POSTPONED
Due to a lack of funding at this time, the second wananga will be postponed and rescheduled. We will post a new registration link when we secure dates and a venue.
A one-day Whakapapa Wananga for Tainui (o Tainui ki Whaingaroa) will be held from
Sometime in August 2026, exact dates to follow. The wananga responds
to requests from whanau wanting to know where their whenua or turangawaewae is, what
state it is in and how to address issues that may prevent people from reconnecting back to
whenua and home. This wananga aims to improve knowledge about relationships to
whakapapa, whanau and whenua Te Kopua, Rakaunui, Te Whaanga, Te Akau within
Whaingaroa.
If you, your parents or grandparents’ names are on any of these land blocks
then you are welcome to come and participate in this hands on wananga. We will be visiting
some of the lands that whanau may not know about and will be working in groups to plot
learnings and future aspirations on maps of the blocks.
